Treating Pain of Children

In response to “Treating the Pain of Children,” Oct. 28:

The article, describing major surgical operations performed on infants, who are given no anesthetic and are totally paralyzed by a drug so that no motion or outcry is possible, was absolutely horrifying. A more fiendish torture could not be conceived.

That such procedures are possible in the hospitals of this country, usually so compassionate, is beyond belief.

If not protected by the blanket of “professional medical practice,” the practitioners would be the subject of investigation by Amnesty International and indictment for torture by the district attorney.
