Magic Johnson Confronts AIDS
The tragedy concerning Earvin Johnson should not surprise us. In a society that encourages hedonism it was only a matter of time before one of America’s best-loved sons was afflicted by the HIV virus. Although Magic is a victim of himself, he is also a victim of a society that constantly glamorizes sex. Sex is shamelessly sold to children, teens and adults by Fortune 500 companies.
America needs to come back to religion or at least morality. We need to teach our children that they don’t have to sleep with everyone they meet. The truth about HIV is that it is virtually impossible to get it if you and your partner are monogamous and abstain from drug use. The best way to honor Magic is to live our lives in a way that will prevent us from plunging into the same abyss that he is on the frontier of.
