Citing the need for change in the district, San Diego Unified school board member Susan Davis announced Tuesday that she will not run for reelection in 1992 when her term expires.

Davis has represented District D, which includes Hillcrest and East San Diego, since being elected in November, 1983. The former president of the League of Women Voters of San Diego and manager of the KPBS-TV auction filled the seat left vacant when Bob Filner was elected to the San Diego City Council.

“I believe in the renewing element of change and am confident that others can effectively represent District D and be as fresh in facing the challenges as I have felt over the years,” said Davis, who made her announcement at the beginning of Tuesday’s school board meeting.
