Felix E. Larkin, 82, former chairman of W. R. Grace & Co. shipping company and a top Defense Department attorney. Larkin, who received his law degree from St. John’s University, was vice chairman of the Naval Board of Review for Courts Martial and assistant counsel of the Senate War Investigating Committee after World War II. In 1947, he joined the Defense Department’s legal staff; in 1949, he was appointed general counsel. At the Department of Defense he helped draft a Code of Military Justice for all armed services, which was set up to protect defendants. Larkin joined W. R. Grace after retiring from the Department of Defense in 1951. He became president in 1971 and chairman in 1974. He was chairman of the executive committee from 1981 until his retirement from the company in 1986. On Sunday in New York City of respiratory failure.
