Hollywood : Transients Forced to Move
Three dozen transients were ordered this week to leave their makeshift living quarters under a bridge that supports Hollywood Boulevard over the Hollywood Freeway, police said.
Police were sent to the freeway overpass at about 8:50 p.m. Monday after receiving an anonymous phone tip that one of the transients was threatening to kill another, said Sgt. Gordon Campbell of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division.
Because the 36 transients, most of them adults, were illegally trespassing on state property, they were ordered out, he said.
Campbell said police also have been photographing the transients living beneath the overpass to document residents’ complaints.
