Maxwell Shares Plummet: Shares in Maxwell Communication Corp. plunged as a fraud probe into a Maxwell family loan and a credit warning from a debt rating firm heightened worries about the group. The shares dropped almost 30% to below 90 cents (50 pence) for the first time, touching a low of 77 cents (43 pence) before recovering slightly to close at 79 cents (44 pence). They were at $2.18 (121 pence) when Chairman Robert Maxwell died at sea on Nov. 5.
