Other Sides to the Soka Story

Share

After reading The Times’ article on Soka University, I will remain silent no longer as this wave of emotional medieval darkness covers the real issue, never brought up in newspaper reports, statements of politicians and directors of conservancies--whether the establishment of Soka University will create a positive or negative impact on our environment and in our community.

The Times seems to be legitimizing a coordinated witch hunt, hiding behind the mask of “environmental consciousness.” The real culprit behind the “fear smear” of Soka University sadly seems to be the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, judging by the behavior of its agents and lobbyists.

At a recent Calabasas City Council meeting, I was appalled by the behavior of the Conservancy’s supporters and one of its lobbyists, Marc Litchman.

Litchman is being paid by our tax dollars. The conservancy has allocated tax dollars for lobbyists and attorneys to smear Soka University and seize its land by whatever means they see fit.

What is going on here? Why isn’t The Times reporting these questionable tactics? Why don’t you expose the ugliness lurking beneath this mask of environmentalism? Focus less on innuendo and more on these shocking incidents.
