Malibu : Pepperdine Expansion
Pepperdine University’s expansion plans and their impact on Malibu will be the subject of a meeting of Malibu’s General Plan Task Force on Dec. 7 at the university’s Elkins Auditorium. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m.
Andrew K. Benton, Pepperdine’s executive vice president, will make a brief presentation and answer questions about the university’s plans.
Pepperdine’s plans to expand its campus, approved by the California Coastal Commission in 1988 after a bitter struggle, have long been a sore spot in the community.
Malibu, which became a city in March, has 2 1/2 years to devise a general plan to serve as a blueprint for future growth. Sara Wan, chairwoman of the task force, said she hopes the meeting will “lead to better understanding between the city and Pepperdine.”
