Humor in uniform. San Diego Symphony music director Yoav Talmi is no prankster, but he does have a wry sense of humor. Not only did he select Mozart’s “A Musical Joke,” K. 522, to launch the orchestra’s four-hour Mozart marathon last night and tonight at Copley Symphony Hall; he also decided that he and the 14 players should don period costume to play the witty send-up of 18th-Century musical style. The symphony enlisted the aid of Margaret Hager, the Lamb’s Players Theatre costume mistress, to supply the requisite wigs and frock coats. When Talmi was in town conducting last month, Hager brought a cartload of costumes down to symphony hall to fit Talmi and the players.
