BRIDGING YEARS: Kiyomi Kobayashi of Hokkaido, Japan, was 15 and working in a munitions factory when Pearl Harbor was hit. He says he knew it would mean military service for him. Today, Kobayashi will be selling his wood carvings at the Japan Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center.
