BUENA PARK : Renovation of Retail Center to Be Studied

Share

The City Council on Monday will consider entering into an agreement with the Koll Co. to rebuild the dilapidated commercial center on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Valley View Street.

Seven years ago, the property was placed in the city’s redevelopment zone to encourage tenants to spruce up their businesses. Before then, two of the major owners--Security Pacific Bank and Builders Emporium--had abandoned their property, leaving many of the smaller stores unable to recover. They eventually left as well.

In July, the council approved an agreement with American Stores Properties Inc. to occupy the land.

The estimated $20-million, 13.3-acre project would cover about 155,000 square feet of retail space, including a Lucky Store and Sav-On Drugs. Officials say they are also negotiating with Pic ‘N’ Save to become a tenant.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m.
