Brewer to Change Ads: The company that markets St. Ides Malt Liquor says it will change its advertising campaign after criticism over ads that target young urban blacks. Critics said the commercials used street-gang terminology and promises of sexual prowess. They cited such lyrics such as: “Get your girl in the mood quicker . . . with St. Ides Malt Liquor.” “We made mistakes in the past. We’ve heard the criticism, and we’ve made changes,” said the head of the McKenzie River Corp., which distributes St. Ides.
