Jon Love is right--he’s shallow (“Too Tough to Let Go of a Life Spent Working,” Commentary, Dec. 9). And unfeeling. In these times, anyone who’s well taken care of--and after 30 years with Los Angeles County, Love must have more than adequate pension, health benefits, etc.--should stay home and leave what scarce jobs there are to those who desperately need them. Love’s attitude that the getting of money is all that’s worthwhile in life is exactly the 1980s attitude that got us into this recession.
