Russia’s Flag Raised Over Embassy in Tehran

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
The Russian tricolor was hoisted over the former Soviet Embassy in Tehran on Sunday, replacing the red hammer-and-sickle banner.
The Iranian news agency IRNA said Tehran had been told in advance that Russia was taking over the embassy, following Thursday’s announcement by Russian President Boris N. Yeltsin that he was taking control of the Soviet Foreign Ministry.
