Ex-Employees Sue Rockwell: Former employees sued Rockwell International in Colorado for up to $50 million in back pay and benefits because the company failed to give them 60 days’ notice when it stopped operating the government’s Rocky Flats, Colo., weapons facility in 1989. The U.S. Department of Energy transferred Rockwell’s contract to EG&G; after mounting environmental and safety problems at the plant, which makes plutonium cores for nuclear weapons. The suit says Rockwell gave employees only 30 days’ notice that it would cease to be the plant operator, a violation of federal law.
