Parole was denied for the eighth time Monday for ex-Manson family member Leslie Van Houten, who was convicted of murder in the 1969 deaths of Rosemary and Leo LaBianca.

Van Houten, 42, has been a model prisoner for 22 years, but the crime was so odious that she is “unsuitable for parole at this time,” said Jim Dowling, spokesman for the state Board of Prison Terms.

The LaBiancas were butchered Aug. 10, 1969, the night after actress Sharon Tate and four others were murdered by other members of the Manson family.
