Burbank Man, 48, Dies in House Fire
A Burbank man died Monday in what appeared to be an accidental house fire, Burbank police said.
Firefighters found James Smith, 48, dead about 5 a.m. when they arrived to fight a fire at his home in the 500 block of Toluca Park Drive, Police Sgt. Don Goldberg said.
Because the fire was confined to the bedroom, Goldberg said, police were investigating the possibility that Smith, who lived alone, fell asleep while smoking in bed.
