IRVINE : Advisory Board Has 5 Openings

A city advisory board whose purpose is to advance the rights of the disabled and help implement policies on their behalf will have five openings this year.

The 12 members of the Irvine Residents with Disabilities Advisory Board serve two-year terms. They attend board meetings from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, and also serve on committees that meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.

Affordable housing, social and recreational opportunities, child care, employment and transportation are some of the issues the board is concerned about.

Applicants must be Irvine residents. The board has three openings for residents-at-large and two for parents or guardians of disabled children. Applications must be submitted to the city by Jan. 22. They may be mailed or brought to the Community Services Department, 1 Civic Center Plaza, Irvine, 92713.
