LONDON —
Britain is seeking an explanation from the Angolan government for the deaths of four British tourists whose cars were ambushed in southern Angola, the Foreign Office said.
The slain tourists, Dr. Mercedes Mackendrick, 25; Jai Pilbeam, 27; Paul Couchman, 28, and Andrew Chandler, 31, reportedly were attacked Friday night near Quilengues, 360 miles south of Luanda, the capital.
Two members of the party escaped unharmed and one man was shot in the legs and is being treated in Lubango, 80 miles from the scene of the killings, British officials said.
