California IN BRIEF : OAKLAND : Charges Dropped in Repeat Rape Case

Prosecutors have dropped the widely publicized charges that a man who was sent to prison for raping a 9-year-old girl raped her again six years later, after he was paroled from prison. Eight felony charges of kidnaping and forcible molestation against Samuel Leon Barnett, 44, were dismissed, said Chief Assistant Dist. Atty. Tom Orloff. “We did some more investigation on the case,” Orloff said. “After everything we learned, it cast some doubt on what happened and who was responsible for it.”
