Two felony indecent exposure charges filed against Raider wide receiver Mervyn Fernandez have been reduced to misdemeanors.

Fernandez is accused of standing on his El Segundo balcony and exposing himself to a female neighbor twice last Oct. 30.

Felony charges were initially filed against the football star because he had been convicted of indecent exposure in Santa Clara County in 1982, Deputy Dist. Atty. Ron Geltz said. But that conviction on Tuesday was judged invalid.

If convicted of the misdemeanor charges, Fernandez faces a maximum penalty of a year in jail.

Fernandez will plead not guilty, according to his lawyer.
