OJAI : School Board Stays Neutral on Landfill
The Ojai school board decided not to take a stand on the proposed Weldon Canyon landfill.
The board split 2 to 2 on a proposal by Trustee Muriel Lavender to send a letter to the County Board of Supervisors protesting the dump’s location.
Lavender was in Sacramento at a California School Boards Assn. conference when Tuesday’s vote was taken.
Board President Vincent France asked the panel to remain neutral, as it has traditionally done on land-use issues. He was backed by Robert Tholl.
Tom Niehaus and Robert Emhardt supported Lavender’s proposal.
