Friends of Fox and Studio’s Expansion

Share

It is my grave concern that people may be misled by the numbers given by 20th Century Fox regarding the membership in Friends of Fox (Times, Dec. 29). I am one that they count as a Friend of Fox even though I adamantly oppose their proposed expansion.

Fox has solicited the local community with offers of free movies and visits to their studio lot in order to entice membership. Unsuspecting persons would be asked to complete a card if they were interested in more information, if they were in support of the preservation of historic buildings on their site or for any number of other reasons. This list became a membership list. I requested a traffic report and specifically said that I did not want my name used as a supporter of Fox. However, I am on their mailing list and receive letters requesting my presence at meetings as a show of force on Fox’s behalf to pack community meetings.

I receive mailings from Fox constantly giving me benefits for my “support.” Despite all this persuasion, and despite the fact that I am counted by Fox as one of their supporters, I have been very vocal in opposing the project, and I wonder how many other so-called members feel the way I do.
