There are three new scholarships available for students at Glendale Community College.

The Jeff Webreck Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a broadcasting student transferring to a university. It is named for former KCOP Channel 13 news engineering manager and lifelong Glendale resident Jeff Webreck, who was slain last September. Webreck’s sister, Jacquie Webreck, and KCOP Executive News Director Jeff Wald decided to start the scholarship with money that had been donated in Webreck’s memory.

John and Elsa Kreider are funding an annual scholarship for students transferring to a university. John Kreider, who was the college’s first dean of instruction, retired in 1970. Criteria for the Kreider and Webreck scholarships will be financial need, academic achievement and chances for success, with the Kreider Scholarship criteria also based on student activities.

The family and friends of the late Dwain O. (Bud) Reinbolt have established a memorial scholarship in his name. Reinbolt was dean of admissions and records from 1974 to 1987, when he retired. He died in December. No criteria have been set for the award.

The amount of all the scholarships will depend on the interest generated from the invested capital. Donations to any of the funds may be made by contacting the campus Scholarship Office, Glendale Community College, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale, 91208.
