Cheating by College Students

Share

I am a senior at San Diego State University. I agree with Michael Moore (“Why Most Students Cheat: It’s Not What You Think,” Campus Correspondent, Opinion, Jan. 12). Teachers need to take a more active role in the student/teacher relationship. I have been in classes that have had 150-200 students, and I understand that it is impossible to get to know every student’s name. Make an effort is all students want. We do not want to just be numbers.

I had a teacher who told our class that his job was not to make a general education class that is required to graduate fun. He said that his main job is to do research for the university so it can receive grants.

Universities are big businesses whose only concern is the more students they pump out, the more money they make. Universities are cheating students out of an education.
