Santa Clarita Opens Graffiti Hot Line

Share

The city of Santa Clarita has established a citizens’ hot line and has hired a contractor to help remove graffiti.

The services are necessary because complaints about graffiti have been increasing, said Gail Foy, city spokeswoman.

The hot line number is (805) 294-2540. Callers do not have to leave their names or phone numbers when reporting the location of graffiti, Foy said.

Graffiti removal services will be provided by a local volunteer organization called the Pride Committee and by the Juvenile Alternative Work Services (JAWS) program of Los Angeles County. The city is paying JAWS $25,000 to spend 50 days a year in the city cleaning up graffiti. The program employs teen-agers on probation.
