Woman Accused of Effort to Have Husband Slain
Acting on an tip, deputies from the Pico Rivera sheriff’s station foiled a plot by a Los Angeles woman who allegedly hired three gang members to kill her husband, authorities said Thursday.
Deputies on Wednesday arrested Yolanda Lara, 25, Danny Lara (no relation), 18, Juan Camarena, 21, and a 17-year-old youth on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
Sgt. Ron Spear said that Yolanda Lara offered three gang members $500 to kill her husband, Rodolfo Lara, who she said had been beating her. Lara met the three gang members Wednesday in front of her home and--unaware that sheriff’s deputies were watching--gave them $200 to shoot her husband on Thursday. She promised to give the trio the remaining $300 after the job was done, and told them she would hide a gun in the chicken coop in the back yard in case they had trouble finding a weapon, Spear said.
