Bid for Health Net Altered: Qual-Med Inc., a health care concern based in Colorado, changed its $300-million offer to buy Health Net to an all-cash bid from one that originally called for paying $70 million in cash and a $230-million note for the Woodland Hills-based health maintenance organization. Qual-Med is one of several entities pursuing Health Net, which triggered a bidding war last year when its management offered to buy the HMO as part of Health Net’s conversion from a nonprofit to a for-profit concern. Management’s plan remains subject to approval by California regulators.
