Generally Speaking, Story on Knight Didn’t Go Over With Readers

Regarding the story on Bob Knight (Jan. 14): Through the ages, men of the Knight stripe have gained access to high places as the result of unrelenting maniacal behavior. I am not surprised that he is pleased with his notoriety.

Through the ages, men who commit the most outrageous acts of aggression against individuals and groups while holding the sensibilities of the public in contempt are written about admiringly by sycophants. I’m not surprised that young Mr. Wojciechowski’s article found its way onto your pages.

Through the ages, men and women have held in awe and respect madmen whose conduct they would eventually look back on with chagrin. I am not surprised by the people of Indiana, either.

What does surprise me is that even one parent would allow his child to be placed under the authority of a man so absolutely wanting in human virtues.
