North Tustin’s Cityhood Issue Sparks Mixed Feelings
I have just read the editorial, “North Tustin Is Told to Sit Down” (Jan. 17). As a longtime resident of North Tustin, I was delighted with the show of “paternalism” on the part of a commission that had the guts to say no to possible financial disaster by refusing to endorse a vote for cityhood.
The firm stand taken by Commissioners (Evelyn R.) Hart, (David) Boran, and Chairman (James H.) Flora was admirable. Thank God we still have people who can still show some paternalism, especially those who serve in the political arena. It’s a lot easier to straddle the fence, as witnessed by the response of (Supervisors Gaddi H.) Vasquez and (Don R.) Roth. I figured they must be up for reelection.
