California IN BRIEF : REDDING : Ex-Mayor Guilty of Credit Card Fraud

Former Mayor Nancy Buffum, accused of running up private bills on a city credit card, has been convicted of five felonies. Buffum, 50, who stepped down as mayor soon after the allegations surfaced in June, faces a possible eight-year prison sentence. She was removed from the City Council upon her conviction Friday. She is to be sentenced March 5. Buffum was found guilty of charging picture frames and marble for her interior design business on the city credit card, charging meals while not on city business, and charging the city for lodging for which she had already received a travel advance.
