COUNTYWIDE : 2 Area Attorneys Named to the Bench
A deputy district attorney was sworn in Sunday as an Orange County Municipal judge after Gov. Pete Wilson appointed him and a Newport Beach civil attorney to the bench over the weekend.
“It’s overwhelming,” said newly sworn-in Judge Craig. E. Robison, 40, Monday from the district attorney’s office, where he has been a prosecuting attorney since 1981. “I’m still trying to tie together loose ends so that I can get ready to start my new position.”
Meanwhile, 32-year-old attorney Corey S. Cramin of Newport Beach is also finishing up business at his office so he can be sworn in this Friday, he said.
Wilson appointed Cramin to the West Orange County Municipal Court in Westminster to replace Judge Daniel J. Didier, who was elevated to the Superior Court in Riverside County.
Cramin is currently an attorney at Sheppard, Mullen, Richter & Hampton in Newport Beach, where he has been a civil attorney since 1988. From 1984 to 1988, he was an attorney at Bonne, Jones, Bridges, Mueller & O’Keefe in Santa Ana.
Robison, of Costa Mesa, will sit in Harbor Municipal Court in Newport Beach. He replaces the late Calvin Schmidt.
Robison, who started out with the juvenile section in 1981, has been with the district attorney’s narcotics division since 1985. He was a Huntington Beach police officer from 1972 to 1981.
Both appointees will receive a $90,680 annual salary as Municipal Court judges.
