Pasadena : Human Services Director

Share

After five months without a director for the city’s human services program, City Manager Philip Hawkey on Tuesday announced his long-awaited choice: Patricia Lane, a child-care coordinator for Los Angeles since 1987.

Lane, a Pasadena resident, takes over a program with 57 employees and an annual operating budget of $4 million.

A graduate of UCLA and a member of the Los Angeles County Children’s Planning Council, Lane is a licensed marriage, family and children’s counselor.

Much of her work, Hawkey said, will involve collaborating with the city’s voluntary organizations to strengthen Pasadena’s human services network.

The human services program, the centerpiece of the City Council’s strategy to transform Pasadena into a neighborhood-oriented city without major social problems, has been without leadership since August, when Assistant City Manager Callie Struggs resigned.
