Japanese Auto Exports to U.S. Dip: Japan’s vehicle exports to the United States fell 7.2% last year, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers’ Assn. said. Worldwide auto exports fell 1.3%, it added. Japan’s car exports to the American market have declined for five consecutive years as Japanese companies increased production in the U.S. Declining U.S. demand also was a factor last year, the association said. Autos and auto parts account for about three-quarters of Japan’s $40-billion annual trade surplus with the U.S.
