Rex Chandler Files Chapter 7 Petitions: A few weeks after shutting down the trendy Rex restaurant at Newport Center Fashion Island, Rex Chandler is putting his business to rest. Chandler filed three separate personal and corporate Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation petitions last week, said Brian M. Friedman, a Newport Beach lawyer whose law firm is representing Chandler and his companies. Friedman said the three filings were for The Rex Partners, the partnership that provided financing for Rex restaurant, which listed liabilities of less than $1 million; West Coast Fish Co. in Newport Beach, which includes the Rex restaurant, with liabilities of more than $1 million; and a personal bankruptcy filing of Rex and Susan Chandler, who listed liabilities of more than $1 million.
