Stoklos Goes Over $1 Million
Randy Stoklos became the first volleyball player to surpass the $1-million mark in prize money when he and Sinjin Smith defeated Adam Johnson and Kent Steffes, 6-5, Saturday in a playoff to win the $75,000 Miller Lite Open at Honolulu.
Stoklos, 31, who has won $1,007,142 in 11 years as a pro, and Smith beat Johnson and Steffes in the morning, 13-7. Then after Johnson and Steffes defeated Tim Hovland and Mike Doblin, 15-4, they beat Stoklos and Smith, 15-8, to force the playoff, which went into sudden death.
