Rosemead : Sister City Delegates to Visit
- Share via
Thirty-five officials from Keelung, Taiwan, will visit this week to establish a sister city relationship with Rosemead.
Keelung, a coastal city of about 500,000, is a naval base and Taiwan’s third largest city, said David Ma, president of the newly formed Rosemead/Keelung Sister City Committee. The Taiwanese delegation, which includes Keelung’s mayor, is scheduled to arrive in Rosemead today.
Officials from the two cities are to sign a sister city agreement and exchange gifts tonight.
On Friday and Saturday, the group will tour the city and surrounding area, including the Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights.
Eventually, Ma said, the cities plan to sponsor programs such as exchange visits by teachers.
