Teen to Be Tried as Adult in Slayings

PHOENIX —
A teen-ager being held in the slayings of nine Buddhists at their temple will be tried as an adult, a judge has ruled.
Johnathan Doody, who turns 18 on May 9, made his initial court appearance as an adult Friday on nine counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery plus one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery or burglary.
