A cocaine smuggler who buried $43 million on his farm--only to lose more than a quarter of the cache when neighbors unearthed the money--has agreed to become a government witness in exchange for a reduced sentence, a newspaper reported Saturday.

Ramon Torres Gonzalez was arrested Nov. 30, 1990, and charged with smuggling Colombian cocaine to Puerto Rico for distribution in the United States. The El Nuevo Dia said Torres Gonzalez pleaded guilty to the charges.
