Bodies of Nine Found in Lebanon Avalanche
The bodies of nine avalanche victims were uncovered Tuesday by crews who abandoned their bulldozers and clawed through deep snow with spades and their hands.
The heaviest snowfall in more than 40 years has been blamed for at least 23 deaths in Lebanon and has cut off villages and damaged homes and crops throughout the Middle East.
In Hizzirta in the eastern Bekaa Valley, the nine people found frozen to death in their home were among 14 villagers reported missing after an avalanche buried the area in up to 26 feet of snow last week.
