Center for Aging Gets $5.2-Million Grant
The UCLA School of Medicine and the RAND Corp. have received a five-year, $5.2-million grant to create a center to promote independence among the aging.
The local center will be one of three Older Americans Independence Centers nationwide, funded by the National Institute on Aging. It honors the memory of the late Claude D. Pepper, Democratic congressman from Florida, who was an advocate for the elderly.
