NATION IN BRIEF : ALABAMA : Preacher Convicted of Murder Attempt

A jury in Scottsboro, Ala., convicted a preacher of trying to kill his wife by forcing her hand into a cage of rattlesnakes. The Jackson County Circuit Court jury deliberated five hours before returning the verdict against the Rev. Glenn Summerford, 47. Summerford’s wife testified that her husband accused her of dating another preacher. She said she was bitten twice but recovered at a hospital.
