NATION IN BRIEF : OHIO : Seven Slayers Go Back to Death Row

Seven killers whose death sentence commutations by former Gov. Richard Celeste were voided have been returned to Death Row. Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Richard Sheward ruled in Columbus, Ohio, that Celeste did not follow proper procedures in granting the clemencies four days before he left office in January of last year. Celeste, a Democrat who opposes the death penalty, reduced the sentences to life in prison. Randall Dana, who represents the inmates, said he would appeal.
