How much is a gold medal worth? Germany and France revealed the subsidies they pay Olympic medal winners.
The German Sport Aid Foundation awards $9,400 for a gold medal, $6,300 for silver and $4,700 for bronze. The French give $46,300 for gold, $22,220 for silver and $15,000 for silver. The money is targeted for the athletes’ studies and preparation.
