The Oregonian newspaper in Portland announced it will discontinue publishing sports teams’ names that may be offensive to racial, religious or ethnic groups.
References to the Braves, Redskins, Indians and Redmen will be dropped effective Sunday, and other names may be dropped later, Editor William A. Hilliard said in a statement to his staff. The statement is to be published Sunday.
