Haitian Refugees
Two or three years ago the governments of Hong Kong and Britain came under severe condemnation by the U.S. because of their policy of repatriating Vietnamese boat people to their homeland.
However, when the tables are reversed and the U.S. becomes the destination of boat people it suddenly becomes perfectly reasonable to repatriate them to Haiti.
What kind of double standard is this? Is there any wonder that foreign governments perceive the actions of the U.S. as hypocritical?
