Right-hander Bob Tewksbury quadrupled his salary when he agreed with the St. Louis Cardinals on a one-year contract worth $800,000.
Tewksbury, who made $185,000 in 1991, had sought $975,000 in arbitration while the Cardinals offered $625,000. Tewksbury was 11-12 with a 3.25 earned-run average in 30 starts last season.
