Screenwriter Charles Bennett, who adapted his own play for Alfred Hitchcock’s “Blackmail” (1929), will attend “Classic Movie Night” Monday at 7 p.m. at the St. James Club, 8358 Sunset Blvd.

“Blackmail” was not only the director’s first talkie, but also Britain’s first feature film with synchronous sound.

There will be clips from other films written or co-written by Bennett, now 92, as well as a Hitchcock feature, yet to be announced.
