U.S. Targets Saddam Hussein

Share

In response to “CIA Authorized to Target Hussein,” Feb. 8:

Who does George Bush thinks he’s kidding?

He vacationed while Kuwait was being attacked, permitting Saddam Hussein a firm foothold. He fired a career Air Force general for demanding to do quickly what he now wants to do covertly, a year after the war. It took him six long months to attack Saddam and all he netted was a burned-up Kuwait at the cost of dozens of Americans dead and hundreds of Kuwaiti and Iraqi dead.

After a war costing the world billions of dollars, Saddam Hussein was permitted to remain free to plunder the Kurds. All because President Bush ordered time and again that our pilots were not to target Saddam.

Now President Bush wants to spend another $30 million to finish the job he stated countless times he wouldn’t do during the war: “to target Hussein.”

And all the while Bush ignored the foundering American economy.

I don’t think Saddam is the one Americans should spend money getting rid of. I think our $30 million should go to the candidate who runs against George Bush in November.
