Parade, Ceremony to Mark First President’s Birthday

A parade and ceremony to commemorate the 260th anniversary of George Washington’s birth will be held Sunday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

The San Fernando Valley chapter of Sons of the American Revolution is sponsoring the event, which begins at 2 p.m. in the Court of Liberty at the park. Participants will include military color guards, members of Veterans of Foreign Wars chapters and the Boy Scouts.

During the ceremony, a wreath will be put at the foot of a 60-foot monument of George Washington in the park, at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

Jim Aguirre of Monrovia, a George Washington look-alike, will speak about the first president.
